Enrollment

Once you’ve reviewed the information about your BMO benefits, be sure to enroll. Here’s what you need to do.

  • Select your network status (on or off the BMO network)
  • Click Enroll in your Benefits coverage tile


You have 31 calendar days from your  hire date (or newly benefit-eligible date) to enroll online.

  • Your 31 day enrollment window includes your hire date or newly benefit-eligible date. 
  • Coverage begins on the first day of the month following 30 days from your start date. You pay a premium for these benefits and any retroactive premiums will be collected.
  • If you don’t enroll within 31 days, your next opportunity to enroll will be during annual enrollment (unless you experience a qualifying life event).
  • Save a copy of your final enrollment elections.
401(k) Plan

You will be automatically enrolled in the 401(k) Plan at a 5% before-tax payroll contribution following 60 days of employment.


You can review, change or opt out of the 401(k) Plan at any time:

Inside BMO Network (no login required for most users)

  • Go to Workday, click Pay application
  • Under External Links, click 401(k)

Outside BMO Network (login required)

Go to ACCESSBenefits online from any computer, phone or tablet. You will need your ID number and PIN.

Or, call ACCESSBenefits at 1-800-738-2323. Have your PIN available.

Employee Share Purchase Plan

You may purchase stock at a discount each quarter. You will receive a temporary PIN about two weeks prior to the first quarter in which you are eligible to enroll.

Inside BMO Network (no login required for most users)

  • Go to Workday, click Pay application
  • Under External Links, click Employee Share Purchase Plan

Outside BMO Network (login required)

Go to Computershare online from any computer, phone or tablet. You will need your ID number and PIN.

Or, call Computershare at 1-800-545-7996. Have your PIN available.

  • Your elections will take effect the first month of each quarter depending on when you make your election.
Commuter Benefits

Choose to join at any time during the year.


Elections must be made by the 10th of the month prior to the effective month  (4th of the month for Long Island or Metro-North Railroad in New York):

  • Go to Workday, click My Benefits & Retirement application
  • Select your network status (on or off the BMO network)
  • Click Your Spending Account (YSA) tile
  • Under Take Action, click Enroll for Commuter at Wired Commuter

Benefit changes during the year

If you have a qualifying life event during the year, you can make changes to your benefits, within 31 calendar days of the event. Here’s how:

  • Go to Workday, click My Benefits & Retirement application
  • Select your network status (on or off the BMO network)
  • Click Log your Life event tile

Your new coverage will be effective from the date of the event.
